Quelques aspects de l'été arctique au Spitzberg occidental

Auteur :
KERGOMARD, C.

Description :
Summer in western Spitzbergen is caracteristic of the oceanic polar climate: temperatures most of the time are situated between 0C and 12C, frost and snow are rare, except at the beginning and the end of the season. The hostility of the climate is mainly due to the wind, the weakness of insolation, the frequency of precipitation and permanent humidity. These particular features are linked with the influence of the sea and the location in arctic atmospheric circulation. Study of the weather types during summer 1977 underlines the importance of cyclonic flows from South West and South, and the shortness of beautiful anticyclonic weather.
