The authors seek to clarify the terminology concerning the concept of residential environment. They try to establish a differentiation between the different residential environments of the city-region of Nijmegen on the basis of Census data (1971). They use for this purpose factorial analysis and clusteranalysis (Ward's method). (AGD).
