Auteurs :
HINDERINK J.,
STERKENBURG J. J.,

Description :
Social and economic inequality are an old theme of study. The attention for this problem with regard to underdeveloped countries is however a rather recent phenomenon. The present article, therefore, attempts to define the concepts of socio-economic and spatial inequality. In addition, the various aproaches to the problem of spatial inequality are distinguished, based on the role and function attributed to the concept space. The authors discuss the characteristics of the various approaches. Moreover, the final part of the article analyses the consequences of the various approaches to spatial inequality for government policy. (AGD).
