Utility of linear models in retail geography

Auteur :
CLEMENTS D. W.,

Description :
Several variables are tested as predictive elements of the retail trade function in rural central places and central places in a metropolitan dominance field. Within a group of western Illinois central places multiple regression models employing population and traffic counts as predictors of retail sales prove to be highly effective. Although an additional variable, distance from metropolis, is included in the multivariate model when applied to a group of cities surrounding Springfield, Illinois this model's predictive power is weaker and declined through the 1960's.
