La Notion de climax appliquée à la Basse Provence calcaire

Auteur :
DOUGUEDROIT A.,

Description :
Present distribution of calcareous Basse Provence's landscape has only been settled at the end of the boreal time and during the atlantic time. The climatic climax vegetation, which included garrigues were little influenced by men. Since, all of them have been modified in different ways. The highland communities were removed. In deciduous forests, high exploitation caused the oaks to prevail. Garrigues are now clearer and more spacious. Scattered trees or even few forests is all that remains of the old vegetation.
