Anwendungsorientierte Geographie und Landschaftsplanung. Gedanken zu einer neuen Aufgabe Regional planning and geography orientated to application. Thoughts about a new task

Auteur :
HENKEL G.,

Description :
On the occasion of the new national preserved areas acts and the regional environment acts in the Federal Republic of Germany, attention shall be drawn to the real activity fields of geography in a modern regional environment planning. In these new acts essential planning orders are directed to geography to its physical aspects as well as to its social aspects. A detailed example is given in this paper of the borderlands of historical geography and regional environment planning, whereby it turned out that new problems require new methodical approaches. Therefore, it surely seems to be true for all parts of geography that an orientation to planning requires an enlargement of the traditional scientific capacities: not the generalization and compiling syntheses of spatial functions can be regarded as useful contributions of Geography to regional environment planning but the purposeful detailed regional research of its different disciplines.
