Les gisements plombo-zincifères de la région d'Engis, province de Liège, Belgique
Auteurs :BARTHOLOME P.,
GERARD E.,
Description :
The information pertaining to these deposits, none of which is at present accessible, is summarized and reviewed. On that basis, the authors attempt to identify the mineralizing processes. The hypothesis considered the most probable is the following. The breccias which contain the ore do not result from tectonic nor from paeleokarstic phenomena. They are due to solution of limestone in an evolving hydrothermal system located in open fractures formed after the folding, and more precisely during the stage when gas accumulated at the top of the cavities. Fixation of sulfides took place when gas escaped to the surface. (LW).
