Finnish meadow-hay barns in the Lake Superior region

Auteur :
KAUPS, M.

Description :
The Finns who immigrated to the northern parts of Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan built hay barns of logs in which hay was stored in much the same way as those in Finland. In a second stage, those Finnish Americans who later became commercial dairy farmers built new and larger barns in which cultivated hay was stored. Barns of both stages are now obsolete| remaining farmers store hay in American-style dairy barns. - (DWG)
