Class, ethnicity, and residential differentiation in mid-Victorian Halifax in Reflections and visions. 25 years of geography at Waterloo.

Auteur :
MCCANN, L. D.

Description :
The paper first analyses the spatial distribution of the various classes and ethnic groups in 1871, on the eve of industrialisation. To explain the basis of residential differentiation, workplace-resident relationships are assessed for their bearing on class segregation, while the concept of autonomy is put to the test for ethnic segregation.
