In the eighties, the co-called growth centres and growth towns in the Netherlands have catered for up to a quartier of new home construction. Two of them are new towns on land reclaimed from the sea, but most are existing towns and villages catering for overspil from elsewhere. The AA. discuss the background of this success story.
