Description :
A gradient filter with a NW-SE direction and a threshold of 10 has been applied on a Landsat TM spectral band 4 image, covering NE Belgium, by making use of a digital image processing system. A gradient type filter is normally used to trace linear features with a direction perpendicular to the gradient, in this case SW-NE. A lineament between Diest and Visé appears when the filter is applied. The direction is almost NW-SE, i.e. parallel with the gradient. The lineament does not appear when filters with other directions are used.
