Description :
A pair of geographers derive large meanings from their observations made in 1983 on the physical and cultural landscapes seen along U.S. 89, a highway that begins on the Mexican border in Arizona and extends northern to the Canadian border through Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Montana. Wildness born of mountains and aridity is the most distinctive image of the Interior West, but there are also images of the garden (irrigated agriculture) and of the city (especially Tucson, Phoenix, and Salt Lake City). - (DWG)
