Description :
Detva was founded in 1638 in a small basin of Detva brook in a strongly differentiated landscape environment at the foot of the Tertiary strato-volcano Polana (1458 m). It was a large central-Slovakian village with rich folk traditions, beautiful nature and the laz-dispersed settlement. During the last 40 years, in consequence of industrialization, Detva turned to an industrial town (16 000 inhabitants). - (MS)
