The village of Chimkhola (elev. 1 750 m) has a collectively organized subsistence system base on growing grains and potatoes, collecting wood and foliage from forests, and pasturing livestock. As a result of increased pressures on the resource base, particularly the absence of regeneration caused by grazing pressures, land-use arrangements if not subsistence survival are at stake. - (DWG)
