Description :
The French colonial administration orientated the production towards cash crops for the metropolitan markets. The state-centered politics of Sekou Touré, which one - sidedly promoted the bauxite mining sector, further undermined the production and reproduction especially of the agricultural sector. The export-orientated programme of the present military government rather is perpetuating the outward orientation of the economy and continuing the neglect of the traditional economic and social structures.
