Hollandale : the evolution of a Dutch farming community

Between 1907-1909, a large marsh was drained near Albert Lea, Minnesota. In 1922, Dutch people were encouraged to come and grow vegetables and sugar beets on the rich mucklands reclaimed from the marsh. The Dutch cultural presence is still felt. - (DWG)
