Thirty years of progress in the studies on basic features of glaciers in China

The main scientific results in the last 30 years, such as conditions for glacier development, distribution of snowline altitude, glacier classification, ice formation, mass balance, glacier movement and glacier temperature are reviewed. A sketch map showing the numerical classification of 22 glaciers is presented. A diagram of glacial zonality specific for further studies on basic features of glaciers in China is also suggested.
