The Jizera Mts. are one of the most affected forest regions by air pollution in Czechoslovakia. The greatest source of pollution are thermal power stations in Poland and GDR situated near the boundary. Aerial photographs were used in the research of the health condition of the woods. Results are illustrated on the maps. The local damage of woods depends upon their height above sea level, the slope and orientation of the relief. - (MS)
