The building of mill races was an important factor in the geomorphological development of river valleys and flood-plains in the Bohemian and Moravian landscape through the Middle Ages. This activity was connected not only with early channeling works but it affected the development of flood-plains as well as the accumulation of fine-grained overbank deposits. - (MS)
