Unsaturated water movement in two bare polder soils of Belgium

Tensiometers were used to investigate the direction of the unsaturated water movement in two polder soils during the growing season. Three different zones could be recognized in the unsaturated part of the soil profile : one with a positive, one with a negative and one with no measurable hydraulic potential gradient. The evolution of these zones was discussed, the relation with the rainfall was investigated and a temporal variability analysis was carried out. - (Les AA.).
