Description :
The valley of the river Mark (Belgium) is filled with deposits of fluvial and aeolian origin accumulated during the Pleniglacial or the beginning of the Late Glacial, not later than 12.000 yr BP. The aim of the investigations was to determine those textural features of the deposits that would best differentiate them into fluvial and aeolian ones. The analyses of granulometric composition, of the quartz grain abrasion, and of heavy mineral composition were performed as well as the analysis of quartz grain surface in the scanning electron microscope.
