The regional inequalities of Hungary are analysed at various levels, the most important being the capital-provinces dichotomy. At the level of counties or regions nivellation is hindered by poor transport and communication infrastructure. The NW is in the most favourable, while the SE is in the worst position. The socio-economic crisis of the eighties resulted in increased regional and settlement polarization. - (DLO), (JS)
