No doubt considerable change in ecology has taken place in Northern Somalia during the Quaternary, but the amplitude of those oscillations seem to have not been as high as in the Saharan desert belt at the same time. Among other indications climatic change is documented by fossil soils, by karst phenomena, by three or four fluviatil terraces and by several archaeological periods. - (l'A.).
